2005 RRA Reunion
For some it was the first time to visit Camp Eagle Rock and for others well let’s say it had been a long time since they were there.    Our first official event was to have dinner together on Friday evening.  The meal was excellent including all the other meals Keith Brooks prepared for us.   Friday evening we viewed some old pictures of years past and of course we remembered and reminisced about those great experiences.   Some of the guys were so young in the pictures that it took awhile to decide who they were.  Some guys even had hair in the pictures; others had dark black hair and lots of it.

Saturday morning after breakfast, Sonny Green brought us a brief devotion and after the devotion we sat around the fire place in the JB lodge.  Many of the group shared stories, testimonies and what ever they had on their hearts.  What a great time that was as we really got to know each other.  After lunch we took a tram tour of Camp Eagle Rock.  As I mentioned earlier some had not been to the camp for at least eight years and for some it was their first time.

Commander Marriot explained to the group about all the improvements and how God has blessed and allowed us to make the improvements.  The food service kitchen is well under way.  The frame and roof is up and hope to have it in the dry within the next few days.  The concrete slabs for the Regional feeding areas have been poured and the cover will go up in the next few weeks.  Rest rooms and shower houses have been improved, roads and bridges improved, camping sites enlarged, communication tower (96 feet high) installed.  Commander stated there are several projects we would like to get completed before Camporama and they are the medical building and the improvements to the amphitheater with new lighting and sound.   Deaverton is a very unique area with a number of small cabins with bunk beds only for outposts to come and use.  Each building is an old frontier style structure.  A new shower house and rest room facility is near by. Commander also shared with us about some of the projects that we want to start but are still in need of additional funds.

Sunday morning Paul Stanek was our morning speaker; as usual Paul did an outstanding job.  After his message we shared communion.  Some had to leave after the morning service others stayed and enjoyed Camp Eagle Rock.   If you missed the first reunion make plans to attend the next one which will be in October 6-8, 2006 at camp Eagle Rock.

Special thanks to Keith Brooks for cooking and all The RRA members who attended.  The group requested that we use Camp Eagle Rock for our 2006 reunion and we hope to have a larger attendance.

Marvin Lemke

National RRA President
